ŞOK MARKETLER TİCARET A.Ş. ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
As Şok Marketler Ticaret A.Ş., it is our responsibility to manage environmental impacts as we grow. We comply with national and international environmental regulations and are committed to continuous improvement to manage and mitigate the environmental impacts of our operations. ISO 14001: 2015 Environmental Management System Standard guides us in our business.
The following principles form the basis of environmental policy:
1. In conducting our operations, we act in accordance with all environmental laws and obligations and develop practices beyond legal obligations.
2. We contribute to the fight against climate change.
3. We adopt an environmental management approach based on continuous development. We continuously improve our environmental performance by measuring them through targets and reporting the results.
4. We ensure that our environmental policy is monitored and audited within the framework of the Environmental Management System.
5. We work to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and air emissions by using energy efficiently.
6. We manage our water consumption effectively and strive to continuously curb it.
7. We try to minimize our wastewater to the lowest possible level and reduce the effect of water emissions.
8. We reduce waste and packaging that are formed as a result of our operations at the source, reuse and recycle them and if it is not possible to recycle them, we eliminate them in accordance with the legislation.
9. We respect the preservation of biological diversity.
10. Our supply processes are based on efficiency and sustainability.
11. We work to supply environmentally friendly products with low environmental impact.
12. In addition to legal obligations; we also ensure that environmental policy is monitored and audited within the scope of our Integrated Management System.
13. We encourage all stakeholders, including our employees, suppliers and business partners to implement a responsible environmental management.
14. We receive support and contribution from our employees, suppliers, customers, members of the Board of Directors and all our business partners on environmental management and goals.
15. We inform our suppliers and support them in adopting environmental management practices.
16. During supplier acceptance processes and audits, we take into consideration the environmental approaches of suppliers.
17. We increase environmental awareness through employee training.
The Sustainability Board meets with the environmental management units at least once a year with the participation of the members including the CEO and monitors the environmental policy and its practices. The Board of Directors is informed about the decisions and the processes.
We annually update our performance devised within the scope of environmental policy and share it with the public. We collect stakeholders' opinions on environmental issues in stakeholder analysis studies that we carry out while determining our priorities within the scope of sustainability report.

Şok Marketler Environmental Management System Summary
Integrated Management System is used in ŞOK MARKETLER TİC. A.Ş. This document is prepared using the framework of ISO 14001-2015 standard in order to benefit from its awareness and a brief information is provided to all stakeholders regarding the Şok Marketler Environmental Management System that is included in the definitions of many manuals, procedures, forms, tables and processes.
4. CONTEXT OF THE INSTITUTION
4.1 UNDERSTANDING THE INSTITUTION AND ITS CONTEXT
The context consists of internal issues that enable to achieve the expectations from Environmental Management System including the organization, the employees, the technological developments; external issues including cultural, social, economic and financial conditions, competition conditions, environmental, legal impact and obligations.
4.2. UNDERSTANDING THE NEEDS AND EXPECTATIONS OF THE RELATED PARTIES
The needs and expectations of all stakeholders or related parties are determined and risks and opportunities that may be exposed and/or sourced are evaluated based on the elements that must be legally accepted or voluntarily accepted.
4.3. DETERMINING THE SCOPE OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The environmental management system context is determined as identifying the risks and opportunities to manage the environmental dimensions, the processes and activities to ensure the compliance obligations and the geographical limits of the activities.
4.4. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
It is a management system used to manage environmental aspects, identify risks and opportunities, and fulfill compliance obligations. The needs and expectations of the institution and related parties are constantly monitored and updated.
An Environmental Management System Procedure has been established that covers all activities and responsibilities of all personnel including Environmental and OHS Responsible.
5.0 LEADERSHIP
5.1. LEADERSHIP AND COMMITMENT
Senior Management commits to realize the following issues for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System: Determination of risks and opportunities, policy and objectives, compliance with the strategic direction and context of the institution, provision, monitoring, auditing of necessary resources, measuring performance, reviewing of the system and constant update.
With the Responsibility of the Management Procedure, the responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Committee Members, Quality Manager/Environmental OHS Responsible, and all Department managers/directors are determined. Other procedures of the Management System also include the responsibilities of the processes.
5.2. ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
The subjects of the Environmental Policy consist of energy/climate change, air emissions, water emissions, water use, waste generation/recycling.
Our Environmental Policy is prepared by the Executive Committee with the participation of all our stakeholders and is finalized with the approval of the CEO.
While the process responsible departments, store and distribution center managers, Quality Manager/Environmental OHS Officer are the main responsible, all our employees are expected to be effective participant in the process of creating our environmental policy and in fully complying with the policy.
6. Planning
6.1 Activities of Determining Risk and Opportunities
General
The Company aims to prevent or reduce the undesired effects of the incidents and events related to the environmental policy that is stated in Article 5.2 with the Environmental Management System and to improve continuously this policy.
Environmental Dimensions
Every year, during the Management Review Meeting, the environmental dimensions that affect the environment positively or negatively during the interaction with the environment are determined. Products, activities and services are evaluated within the framework of life-cycle approach, environmental regulations and voluntary approaches and the environmental dimension is evaluated considering the unsuitable conditions that have occurred before.
Compliance Requirements
The control method is determined for the facility installation, production processes and maintenance, store and distribution centers, service and product characteristics, transportation, usage of resources, all kinds of emissions and compliance with all waste management requirements that are determined by the regulations. Targets, resources and processes are identified and necessary activities are planned with action plans. If needed, the actions are finalized by the approval of the Executive Committee.
6.2. Environmental Objectives and Planning for Attaining Them
Environmental Objectives
Measurable objectives consistent with the Environmental Policy are determined and announced to employees.
Planning Activities to Attain Environmental Objectives
During the review meeting of the Management under the responsibility of the process owners, Environment and OHS Responsible, the hazards are identified within the context of the risk analysis, they are graded and the control measures are decided.
Necessary steps and resources, responsibilities, controls and tests related to these steps are decided together with the process owners under the management of the Environment and OHS Responsible and harmonized with other processes.
7. Support
7.1 Resources
The tangible and intangible resources for all the processes of the Environmental Management System summarized in this document are provided.
7.2 Qualification
The Human Resources Group Directorate plans the implementation of the programs for the development of the necessary skills for awareness and professional competence related to the risks and opportunities within the Environmental Management System.
7.3 Awareness
Human Resources Directorate, Loss Prevention Group Directorate, Supply Chain Directorate, Construction Technical Purchasing and Investment Group Directorate, Sales Operations Group Directorate prepare awareness raising programs for stakeholders regarding environment and environmental management system.
Programs are implemented with the approval of the Executive Committee.
7.4 Communication
General
Internal External Communication Plan details all the communication to be implemented internally and externally including the frequency.
Internal Communication
Human Resources Directorate is responsible for the communication of Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System.
External communication
Supply Chain Director is responsible for store products suppliers while Construction Technical Purchasing and Investment Group Directorate are responsible for other products and services.
7.5 Documented information
General
Preparation, approval, publication, distribution, review and storage of all the documents that affect the Environmental Management System are carried out within the framework of the Document Management Procedure.
Creating and updating
Employees forward new document or revision requests to the related department manager, and after the approval of the relevant department manager, the related department manager forwards the request and draft document to the Quality Manager/Environment-OHS responsible. The current version of the documents prepared and revised within the scope of the management system is published by the Quality Manager/Environment-OHS Responsible.
During the internal audits of the relevant departments, documents are reviewed collectively by the auditors and the department authorities who have prepared them, and their up-to-date and functionality is ensured.
Control of documented information
Publishing, annulling, backing up, archiving and providing records of documents are determined within the scope of Document Management Procedure.
8. Operation
Operational Planning and Control
Implementation plan and control processes are prepared by the store and distribution center managers by receiving service from authorized companies when necessary under the responsibility of the Environment and OHS Responsible, they are implemented after the approval of the CEO.
Emergency Readiness and Response to Emergency Situations
Risks related to the process are evaluated with risk assessment table within the scope of Risk Management Procedure.
Plans for emergency readiness and response, team lists, exercise incidents, non-compliance and corrective action reports, and control processes are defined in the Emergency Management Process document.
9. Performance Evaluation
All environmental issues are monitored periodically. The control forms contain detailed information about the parameter to be monitored, the monitoring-measurement period, the person responsible for monitoring, the monitoring results, and the legal regulations and records. The follow-up and the data obtained constitute an important input to the Management Review meetings for the evaluation of environmental performance.
The relevant legal and other conditions and related parameters arising from the activities are reviewed and updated quarterly by the Environment and OHS Officer.
9.1 Monitoring, Measurement, Analysis and Evaluation
General
The follow-up, measurement and analysis determined during the work processes are carried out regularly by the responsible persons and observation, detection and data are recorded.
Conformity Assessment
Within the scope of Assessment of Conformity Workflow, related processes, responsible persons and source documents have been determined.
The departments list the Environmental Management System annually for their respective units and, if applicable, their areas of responsibility, and their compliance obligations with respect to the objectives of the departments.
The persons responsible for the follow-up and follow-up frequency are determined.
The Directorate of Lost Prevention reports to the senior management the initiation of corrective action and non-compliance under the responsibility of the Environment and OHS responsible.
Internal Inspection
It is a systematic and objective examination of the activities and results of the Environmental Management System, whether it complies with the planned regulations and is suitable for achieving the objectives and the principles that are specified in the Internal Audit Procedure.
The Loss Prevention Group Manager prepares the Audit Plans annually using the defined Internal Audit Plan and the plans are approved by the CEO. Risk Analysis to be used for audit planning is included in the Internal Audit Procedure.
The prepared audit plan is published to the relevant departments.
In any part of the system, significant quality deviations and errors are audited without plan when occurred and in the necessary periods until the system is corrected.
Auditors are selected from company employees and/or external Auditors who have completed Internal Audit training and have the relevant certificate.
Nonconformities resulting from environmental audits are reported by the internal auditors to the Loss Prevention Group Directorate.
Management Review
The relevant legal and other conditions and related parameters arising from the activities are reviewed and updated quarterly by the Environment and OHS Officer.
Measures and suggestions regarding the non-compliances and weaknesses of the Environmental Management System performance and Audit reports are reviewed at the Management Review meetings.
The management review meeting is held with the participation of the Executive Committee, Quality Manager/Environmental and OHS Responsible at least twice a year when requested by the Executive Committee and/or the Quality Manager/Environment and OHS Responsible. When deemed necessary, the audit can be performed outside the period determined according to the request and after getting the necessary approvals.
10. Improvement
10.1 General
Process owners take appropriate steps by identifying requirements and opportunities within the framework of information provided and obtained by Loss Prevention Directorate. Process Compliance Assessment is set out in the Workflow and Handbooks and Procedures.
10.2. Non-conformity and corrective action
In the Environmental Management System, corrective action is initiated in cases determined to respond to events and non-conformities in a timely manner, to identify and eliminate the causes, to prevent similar situations and potential non-conformities.
The owner of this process is the Quality Manager, Environment and OHS Responsible, all departments are responsible.
10.3 Continuous improvement
In order to improve the performance of the Environmental Management System, its adaption with the system, its capability and effectiveness are continuously improved.
Measures and recommendations regarding non-conformities and weaknesses of the system are examined, development opportunities that can be realized in the Environmental Management System are evaluated, and resource requirements are reviewed.
Internal audits, reviews, employee engagement, training, corrective actions, inappropriate product management, customer relationship management, risk and opportunity assessments, supplier audits, product analyzes, personnel performance evaluation, external audits, loss prevention activities are some of the tools used for this purpose.
